The Gallery is where you can create and delete canvases. On mobile you can also import images from your device’s library as well as take photos that load directly into your current canvas.
CanvasPainter works off of “Canvases” – you can think of these as “projects”. While you can start sketching right away you must create and select a “Canvas” within the Gallery to enable all of CanvasPainter’s features.
You know that a canvas is selected by looking at its tab within the Gallery and noting the presence of a green selection circle. As is the case throughout the CanvasPainter interface these circles indicate your current selection.
Note this example which shows three Canvases in the Gallery. Which one is selected? (Answer: The “new” Canvas by virtue of the green selection circle on its tab)
Create a New Canvas
To create a new canvas enter the desired canvas name into the text field titled “Create A New Canvas”. CanvasPainter automatically selects a Canvas when it is created for the first time.
CanvasPainter allows you to preview a Canvas by simply clicking or tapping on the desired Canvas Tab within the Canvas List. When you do this two things happen:
- A preview of that Canvas appears in the preview area to the right of the Canvas List
- A tray opens beneath the activated Canvas Tab thus revealing additional options
The activated Canvas is previewed but not loaded. Your currently selected Canvas is not affected.
To load a Canvas browse the Canvas List and then click or tap the desired Canvas Tab. The Load button will appear beneath the activated Tab. Click or tap the Load button to load the Canvas into the main painting area of the app.
To delete a Canvas browse the Canvas List and then click or tap the desired Canvas Tab. The Delete button will appear beneath the activated Tab. Click or tap the Delete button to delete the Canvas.
Import From Library
CanvasPainter has an import function that allows you to choose an image from your device’s Library. Click or tap the “Import From Library” button to begin the import process.
The Import Photo function uses your device’s camera to import an image into CanvasPainter.
